#3 Telluride

The Slopes: If your looking for a more remote setting with unprecedented amounts of snow Telluride is the place for you. With over 2,000 acres of terrain averaging 300 inches of snow Telluride has 16 lifts and 150 trails. Telluride has a base elevation of 8,725 feet and a summit of 13,150 feet, with that comes plenty of extreme skiing while still having plenty of variety for a family trip. A gondola offered to skiers and none skiers is available to take you up to and down from the base lodge on the mountain.

Culture: Telluride has a more laid back vibe to it and is known for it's variety of activities available. While this may not be the setting for those who are looking to party, there are still plenty of activities outside of skiing for all age groups and the views are unmatched by an other resort.

The Town: There are 2 main towns to tour and stay in, one being the town of Telluride itself and the other being Mountain Village. Both are connected to the ski hills by a free gondola that runs form 7 am to midnight everyday. There are a variety of different events during the year to go with the vast amount of shops, places to eat and other activities like the spa and kids events.

Travel: Unlike the other resorts you will find on this website, Telluride is a good ways outside of Denver. A 7 hour drive to be exact, with a variety of terrain and views across the 330 mile journey. Telluride does have 2 regional air ports near by but for the most part those visiting Telluride are going to want to stay for at least a couple days.
