#2 Aspen

The Slopes: Unlike the other resorts in Colorado, Aspen Resorts consists of 4 separate "mountains". Those being Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain and Buttermilk. Between the 4, which are so close you can bounce around, you will find just about any type of terrain there is. Buttermilk, home of the X-Games has little ski runs but plenty of terrain park options, while Aspen Mountain and Highlands have no beginner runs and is a destination for intermediate and above type skiers. Then for family's and/or beginners you have snow mass which is over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain perfect for a family vacation spot. Aspen receives around 180 inches of snow a year.

Culture: Aspen is known to have the perfect culture for just about any visitor. It is known as the number 1 destination for Hollywood stars and professional sport player. To go along with that, it host the X-Games so you could say they know how to through a party for those interested. On the flip side there is plenty of fun for a family setting: tubing, snow slides, live music, and bonfires are just the start of the list to go along with art galleries, shops and dinners.

The Town: While Aspen is known as a ski town, it is much more than that. It is home to high class restaurants, an Oprah house, a few museums, spas and almost anything else you could hope for making it the perfect destination for a family that isn't made up entirely of skiers.

Travel: Aspen is located about 3 1/2 hours(200 miles) West of Denver right off of I-70. Aspen also has a regional air port for those willing to foot the bill.
