#1 Vail

The Slopes: Vail is found atop the list for obvious reasons, it is well known around the world as one of the premiere ski resorts. Vail's 5,289 acres covered with 31 lifts, 195 trails 7 black bowls in the back for experts and a variety of trails on the front side of the mountain gets hammered by 341 inches of snow per winter. You could spend an entire season skiing Vail and still not see it all as it is over twice the size of most of its competitors.

Culture: Vail has many different areas, all with their own styles and activities. Vail has plenty of on and off the mountain activities for all age groups, but especially for kids. Vail features tubing, a zip line, snow biking and a mini snowmobile course, making it perfect for a family vacation spot.

The Town: Vail is made up of 4 main towns which all feature a variety of shops, dinners and activities for those of all different ages. There are plenty of different places to stay and eat for those on a budget and those looking for luxury.

Travel: Vail is about 2 hours(100 miles) outside of Denver making it a fairly manageable drive for those flying in through Denver. Vail is not far from many other resorts, making it the perfect spot to base from for those planning on skiing in many different places.
